December 2014 Fishing Report: Palm Beach, Singer Island, Palm Beach Shores

Welcome to the December deep sea fishing forecast for Palm Beach, Singer Island and Palm Beach Shores Florida. The snowbirds are making their way down to south florida and so are the sailfish. We all know that sailfishing will be heating up but let’s talk about the princess of darkness- the mighty Swordfish. Schools of tinker Mackerel will be arriving offshore and Swordfish love to eat them. Anglers will need to keep an eye on the weather. Avoid breezy day with winds more then 10 knots. These fish can be caught in depths from 1000 to 2000 feet. Bait of choice will be a rigged tinker Mack or large Squid. These baits are not hard to rig and or can be purchased at the local tackle shop. Keep your baits drifting in the 50 – 300 foot column. When heading out to the fishing grounds try high speed trolling for Wahoo. This is a great way to kill two birds with one stone. Bait of choice will be a rigged horse Ballyhoo or Mullet with a black and red skirt. Also in December, the Snapper fishing will be good. You wouldn’t think so but it is. Keep a sardine down on the bottom on a long leader and get ready for some good eats!

For you inshore anglers, break out the light tackle because the Spanish mackerel and Blue fish will be invading the inlets. The best lure will be a small spoon or a yellow jig. Make sure you include your small trace of wire to avoid cutoffs. Also, highflying Tarpon will be roaming the beaches looking to eat anything in their path. Bait of choice will be a jumbo shrimp drifted along the shore. Well, good luck, and remember, you can’t catch them from the couch.
