January 2017 Fishing Report: Palm Beach, Singer Island, Palm Beach Shores

Welcome to the January Coastal Angler Magazine’s fishing forecast. I can talk about the epic Sailfishing that’s going to happen after the day of a cold front, but It’s the Big Dolphin that gets me going. These fish swim down ahead of the fronts chasing bait heading south. Anyone that has the trolling thing down will score big, but if you have the kite deal down… your golden. You will have one chance at it so if the temp is forcast to drop on a certain day… you better call in sick. When you have that big bull on, remember to keep him in the water untill you hook the cow. Big Dollies like to pair up for hunting and most likely she will not be far behind. Also don’t forget that the snappers will turn on so get a bait down deep with light leader to fool that big guy into eating your hook.

For you palm beach inshore fishing boys the inlet will be heating up with Jacks, permit and the spawning of sheephead. Light tackle is the way to go, so don’t forget the snoopy rod you had as a kid. If the inlet happens to be to rough.. head over to the calm waters of the Rybo reef. Lane snappers will be stacked on top of each other fighting for there next meal.

Another thing to remember… it’s Manatee time, so please keep a look out for them. Ok. Good luck and tight lines!
