Welcome to the Coastal Angler's July fishing forecast for Juno Beach, Singer Island and Palm Beach Florida. Summer is here and its hot! Most fishermen wake up super early and hit the water at the crack of dawn. However, there is another time of the day that's just as productive...the late afternoon. Yes, there could be rain showers, but most of the time they don't last long. This is a time when there is less boat noise and the fish start to let their guard down.
July is a great month for Blackfin, Kingfish and Wahoo. These fish hunt at low light conditions, so expect them to be biting in the late afternoon. The waters off the Breakers Hotel in 180 ft will be your best bet. Live bait or a trolled Bionic rigged Mullet will crush these guys. Don't forget, light leader for the Tuna and wire for the Hoos.
Also, this month the bottom fishing to the north of the condos on Singer Island will be on fire. The reef there is teaming with life and is in good health. Yellowtails, Mutton, Mangroves and let's not forget, Vermilion Snappers will be feeding on the scraps from the surface dwellers like Bonito and Kingfish. Big snappers have great eyesight, so scale down the tackle. When I'm bottom fishing, I always have a flat line out for that 50lb King that will be lurking around.
For the nearshore guys, the beach will be the place to look. Snook and tarpon will be making their way up the beach hunting for their next meal. These hard fighting fish eat live bait, but sometimes will take artificial. Present it well enough and he will bite. That's all for this month. Good luck and tight lines! - Capt. Weston Russell
